Child Care Programs

We operate two Child Care programs – Strathcona Licensed School Aged Care and Preschool.

Preschool
Our licensed preschool programs all share the same philosophy of learning through play. Our Early Childhood Educators encourage & facilitate the children’s early education through our curriculum of fine arts, language acquisition, literature, cooking,
math, science, physical education, and exploration as well as by building relationships of trust and security. Your children’s growing
capacity for empathy, creativity and critical thinking will be nurtured and encouraged.

During the school year, Strathcona Licensed Child Care operates two preschool rooms for children ages 3-5 years, through to
kindergarten entry.

School Aged Care
This year, Strathcona Community Centre was again the largest single site after school child care program in the City of Vancouver.

We are a $10/Day Child Care Centre 
Access to affordable child care makes a huge impact on Strathcona families. As of March 1, 2022, families with kids in our care now pay a maximum of $200/month. This funding allows us to continue to run our program at the highest standard of care, while saving families a significant amount of money.

Strathcona Community Centre Association is committed to equitable, affordable access to child care for our community. Beyond securing this funding, our program does not have an application or wait list fee, we work with community partners to ensure all parents have equal access to our wait list, and we have a dedicated staff person to help families apply for the Affordable Child Care Benefit.
